此次收入中文譯本的篇章，分別選自紐頓的五部同類著作：《藏書之樂，及其相關逸趣》（The Amenities of Book-Collecting and Kindred Affections, 1918）、《洋相百出話藏書，兼談藏書家的其他消遣》（A Magnificent Farce and Other Diversions of a Book-Collector, 1921）、《最偉大的書，與其他零篇》（The Greatest Book and Other Papers, 1925）、《蒐書之道》（This Book-Collecting Game, 1928）、以及《蝴蝶頁──文藝隨筆集》（End Papers: Literary Recreations, 1933），恰分為五卷共十九章。挑選的標準稍有參差，但約略以「較符合『藏書』旨趣」與「有特殊的文藝趣味」者為原則（唯一的例外 ...
